Getting to Karlsruhe

Via Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport

The closest airport to Karlsruhe has flight connections to the Iberian peninsula, Italy, the Balkans, parts of Eastern Europe, Sweden and the UK (see: Karlsruhe Airport winter timetable). From the airport, it takes about 1 hour via public transport (at least 1 change, bus and train) or 50 minutes by car.

Take the KVV bus line 285 to Baden-Baden station or the bus lines X34 or 234 to Rastatt station. From Baden-Baden you can take the S-Bahn line S7 or the regional trains of the Deutsche Bahn, from Rastatt you can take S7, the S71 and the S81, directly to the Karlsruhe main station. From the main station you can reach the city center of Karlsruhe with trams 3 and 4 of the KVV.

Via Stuttgart Airport

The airport is connected to various European destinations including a few routes within Germany. Stuttgart Airport is between 1-2 hours away by direct bus (FlixBus) or train to Karlsruhe

Via Strasbourg Airport

The Strasbourg Airport has several connections across continental Europe as well as a number of North African cities. However, public transport connections to Karlsruhe range around 2-3+ changes amounting to 2.5-3 hours travel time.

By rail

Karlsruhe is well connected via the German (as well as the French TGV) rail system through its main city station, Karlsruhe Hbf. This means travelling to Karlsruhe will be possible from Germany, France and Switzerland.
