EUDAT Summer School 2023 was hosted between 26 and 30 of June 2023 in Kajaani, Finland. This edition strengthened the skills required to excel in data management, getting the participants geared up to manage and process data throughout the full, research-data lifecycle.

The EUDAT Conference 2026, is the flagship biennial event of EUDAT will be held from 25-27 November 2026 in Prague, Czechia.

Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure

CLARIN is the Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure in Europe. Its main aim is to provide scholars in the humanities and social sciences with easy access to digital language data (in written, spoken, video or multimodal form) and to advanced tools for finding, exploring, using, annotating, analysing or combining such data, no matter where it is located. In more detail, CLARIN offers:

  • Comprehensive services to the humanities disciplines with respect to language resources and technology.
  • A persistent and stable infrastructure that researchers can rely on decades to come.
  • Technology for overcoming the many barriers created by institutional, structural and semantic interoperability problems and fragmenting the resources and tools landscape.
  • Tools and resources that will be interoperable across languages and domains, thus addressing the issue of preserving and supporting the multilingual and multicultural European heritage.
  • Comprehensive training and education programs that include university education in the different member states.
  • Improvement and extension of web-based collaborations, i.e. creating virtual working groups breaking the discipline boundaries.
  • Development or improvement of standards for language resource maintenance.

CLARIN is building a networked federation of language data repositories, service centres and centres of expertise, with single sign-on access for all members of the academic community in all participating countries. Tools and data from the different centres will be interoperable, so that data collections can be combined and tools from different sources can be chained to perform complex operations to support researchers in their work.

UNSEEN Project Leverages EUDAT Services for Groundbreaking Energy Systems Research

The German Aerospace Center's UNSEEN research project has successfully deployed EUDAT's B2DROP and B2SHARE services to facilitate cross-institutional collaboration and data sharing. The project focuses on computing large data sets for energy system optimisation modelling, particularly using High-Performance Computing (HPC) to identify robust energy scenarios.

Join the RDA 6th Plenary Climate Change Data Challenge!

The Sixth Plenary RDA Meeting to be hosted in Paris from 23-25 September 2015, will feature a special focus on research data for climate change, leveraging on the UN Climate Change Conference (COP21) to be held in Paris in December 2015. As a part of this special focus Cap Digital & RDA have created a special Challenge designed to connect Climate Change related Data Sets with startups, SMEs and larger organizations with practical application for these data.

The European Open Science Cloud for Research

Today, EUDAT together with four other leading European initiatives, LIBER, OpenAIRE, GÉANT and EGI share their joint vision for the European Open Science Cloud for Research. This vision includes eight elements of success for a concrete contribution to the Digital Single Market. This month also marked the end of the first successful EUDAT Call for Data Pilots with 24 applications from a broad range of European research infrastructures, communities and organizations. These pilots are from disciplines as diverse as earth and environmental sciences, biomedical and life sciences, social sciences and humanities, physical sciences and engineering. ENES, from the climate change domain, and VPH covering medical and clinical research tell us why EUDAT is fundamental for their work. Want to know more about EUDAT? EUDAT is a pan-European collaboration that provides robust and trustworthy data infrastructure for research communities. The EUDAT Secretariat is the executive and operational body of the Collaboration, responsible for the day-to-day management, coordination, and implementation of activities. It’s a virtual team distributed over the EUDAT members and consist of 6 people with about 3 FTEs.
