Vacancy: EUDAT Head of Secretariat

Location: To be determined, potentially remote or based in one of the EUDAT member organizations


About EUDAT:


EUDAT is a pan-European collaboration that provides robust and trustworthy data infrastructure for research communities. The EUDAT Secretariat is the executive and operational body of the Collaboration, responsible for the day-to-day management, coordination, and implementation of activities. It’s a virtual team distributed over the EUDAT members and consist of 6 people with about 3 FTEs. 


Job Summary:


We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to lead the EUDAT Secretariat as its Head. The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding and coordinating the Secretariat team to achieve shared goals. The Head of Secretariat will be the primary interface for pan-European communities, (potential) new Members, and scout for funding opportunities for the further evolution of EUDAT.


Key Responsibilities:


   • Guide and coordinate the virtual Secretariat team to achieve shared goals
   • Facilitate collaboration, remove obstacles, and create an environment for effective team performance and development
   • Organise regular reporting to the Executive Board and Council or its Chairs and participate in Executive Board and Council meetings
   • Act as primary interface for organizing involvement of pan-European communities and (potential) new Members
   • Scout for funding opportunities and support participation of Members in projects
   • Ensure adherence to the EUDAT Agreement, Service Management Framework, and all ethical, security, and data protection obligations
   • Oversee coordination of services, service development, projects, and resources across Members
   • Support participation in EU and other external funding programmes


Requirements:


   • Proven experience in managing and coordinating teams, preferably in a research or scientific environment
   • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
   • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and prioritise multiple tasks and responsibilities
   • Strong understanding of research data management, data infrastructure, and related policies and regulations
   • Experience in project management, funding acquisition, and stakeholder engagement

Selected candidates will be employed through one of the EUDAT member organizations, with secondment to EUDAT Ltd., or as self-employed contractors. The position represents approximately 0.5 FTE, and the employment arrangement will be agreed upon with the successful candidate.
