The Digital Infrastructures for Research 2016 conference organised by European eInfrastructures EGI, EUDAT, GÉANT, OpenAIRE and RDA represented “an important step towards greater collaboration between e-Infrastructures, which is very much required by research communities who want to be able to access network, data and computing resources in a seamless way” said Damien Lecarpentier, EUDAT Project Director.

The conference was timely in that EUDAT - the pan European Collaborative Data Infrastructure - announced a landmark agreement to sustain the infrastructure for the next 10 years. This offers research infrastructures, communities and scientists robust and sustainable innovative data services to support their research collaboration and data management.

Damien Lecarpentier, EUDAT Project Director, explains Why the Digital Infrastructures for Research 2016 event was important, what EUDAT is and what future is in store.
