The purpose of the Research Data Alliance is to accelerate international data-driven innovation and discovery by facilitating research data sharing and exchange, use and re-use, standards harmonization, and discoverability.
The Third Plenary Meeting focuses on the theme “The Data Sharing Community: Playing YOUR Part” and is about exploiting RDA’s work to date to its full potential. The program contains a mixture of keynotes, panels, networking, working and interest groups, as well as ‘Birds of a Feather’ sessions on topics ranging from agriculture to particle physics, and from humanities to bioinformatics. All parts of the data lifecycle are addressed, from foundational data terminology to data publication and re-use. EUDAT is organising a training course and is actively involved in many RDA working and interest groups.
The aim of the EUDAT training course is to introduce the building blocks and data services offered by EUDAT (www.eudat.eu) to scientists, researchers and research communities. EUDAT is currently providing four services that make it possible to find, share, store, replicate and perform computations with both primary and secondary research data. These services are B2FIND – a simple and user-friendly way to find and access research data collections stored in EUDAT data centres, B2SAFE – a robust, safe and highly available replication service allowing community and departmental repositories to replicate their research data, B2STAGE – a reliable, efficient, easy-to-use service to ship large amounts of research data between EUDAT storage resources and workspace areas of high-performance computing systems, and B2SHARE – a user-friendly, reliable and trustworthy way for researchers and communities to store and share their research data. The course will address all four of these services.
