The EUDAT community mourns the loss of Sarah Jones, a key figure in the European open science movement and a strong supporter and key partner in promoting EUDAT’s vision – the idea that research data should be shared and preserved across borders and disciplines.

Through her contributions, we saw stronger EUDAT and GEANT ties allowing EUDAT to establish links with many new national research and education networks (NRENs). A session she led at the last EUDAT Conference 2022 ignited what would be a series of engagements between EUDAT, GEANT and NRENs with discussions and plans going past 2024.

Besides her tremendous professional skills and contributions, Sarah was above all a wonderful person, warm, kind with an amazing sense of humour. We will remember all these evenings spent together during conferences and events, our laughters and lively discussions. We would like to share our most sincere condolences to her family and friends and also to her GEANT colleagues. She will be greatly missed.
